- I don't see my printer listed.
Can I still use your refill kit?
Search our compatibility
list according to printer cartridge number. You can
locate your cartridge number(s) on the printer cartridge
inside your printer.
- The instruction manual has the
refilling amounts in milliliters (ml), but my syringe is
marked in cubic centimeters (cc). What is the conversion
rate?
Milliliters (ml) and cubic centimeters (cc) are the same.
When the manual instructs you to fill the syringe with
10 ml, for example, you will fill the syringe with 10
cc's.
- I have refilled my cartridge
and nothing prints.
The most common causes of this problem are blocked printheads
or air trapped in the cartridge, in some cases an overfilled
cartridge will also be unable to print because the ink
droplets cannot make a clean break from the printhead
to reach the paper. To clear any blockage, use the small
and/or large rubber priming tips, if included with the
refill kit, to clear the printhead. Instructions for this
are located in the manual. If this does not work, you
may also soak the printhead (the bottom portion of the
cartridge where the ink exits) in 1/4" to 1/2" solution
of 50% warm, distilled water and 50% alcohol for about
an hour. To correct overfill, simply remove 1 - 3 ml of
ink from the cartridge.
- I have refilled my cartridge
and now it is leaking.
Possible causes of this are overfilling, a fill-hole
seal that is not airtight, or the sponge in the cartridge
is beginning to dry up and won't absorb as much ink. In
the case of overfilling, extract some ink from the cartridge.
Ensure that your fill-hole seal is airtight. It may be
necessary to reseal the filling hole where you injected
the ink. Many cartridges have sponges inside. Make sure
you penetrate the sponge with your needle, push down to
the bottom, then slowly move upwards as you inject the
ink. Inserting your needle in different directions in
the sponge may also help it to regain some of its porosity.
Reseal the filling hole where you injected the ink.
- I have used up all of the black
ink (or another color). Can I order more?
Black Only and Color Only Refill Kits are available through www.datatekusa.com.
- I have a 4-color printer. What
should I do with the photo colors?
Some printer cartridges, in addition to black, magenta,
cyan, and yellow, require two additional "photo" colors:
lighter hues of both magenta and cyan. These inks are
not intended for use in standard four-color printers,
even when printing photos. Many four color printers can
accept an optional photo cartridge that uses the photo
colors.
- What kind of ink do you provide
in the InkJet Refill Kit?
We have a special, dye-based ink formula that works well
in almost all inkjet printers. With careful refilling,
most cartridges can be used many times without clogs or
other issues.
- Is your ink acid free?
We do not guarantee our ink as acid free for the purposes
of long life and no impact on other materials.
- Is your ink edible?
No. Our inks may not be used for use on confectionery
products such as designs on cakes, cookies and candies.
- Is your ink water-proof?
Our inks are not water resistant on plain paper. When
our inks are used with high- quality glossy photo paper,
the result can be nearly water-proof.
- How can I get ink stains off
my hands?
Wash hands immediately with soap and warm water. If stains
persist, we recommend a long, hot shower.
- How can I get ink stains out
of clothing?
Immediately rinse the stained area with cold water, then
saturate the item with hair spray containing alcohol.
Place a white, absorbent cloth or towel under the stain
to catch the excess ink. You then need to blot the stain
with a clean cloth. Repeat this process until the stain
is removed, then launder as usual.
Caution: Some fabrics may be damaged
by the hair spray solution. If in doubt, test on a hidden
area first. Some fabrics may stain immediately and it
may not be possible to completely clean them.
- Where can I purchase the Stratitec
InkJet Refill Kit?
The Stratitec InkJet Refill Kit is available at a number
of distributors including www.datatekusa.com.
- Where can I purchase ink in
bulk quantities?
If you need moderate bulk quantities of ink, we suggest
simply purchasing additional Stratitec Inkjet Refill kits.
The price of the ink in the kit is economical, and additional
accessory kits are useful because they allow a separate
syringe and needle for each color which speeds the refilling
process.
If you need large bulk ink packs, they are available
at www.datatekusa.com.
